Squamish CAN constantly seeks ways to help the climate. We currently engage with the following projects.
Get Active with Current Projects!
Current projects form the basis of our actions.
Fruit Tree Project
The Fruit Tree Project sends volunteers to pick local fruit. This helps to prevent bears from coming into town, while also providing delicious and nutritious fruits to hungry locals.
Green Business Award
The Green Business Award celebrates local companies that contribute to the well-being of our environment. Each year one winner rises to the top.
Re-Use-It Fair
A regular highlight, and a great way to give and get all kinds of items, the Re-Use-It Fair brings together many people to exchange clothing, toys, and more. Keep waste out of landfills, and have a good time while you’re at it.
Squamish CAN Grow Community Garden
The Squamish CAN Grow Community Garden, located in a downtown lot right next to the August Jack Motor Inn, produces attractive and edible growth. We build structures to enable urban agriculture.
Squamish Climate Action Day
Every Squamish Climate Action Day is a chance to take actions on a local level, to contribute to global improvement. We undertake activities such as demonstrating solar energy.
Steam Punk Christmas
The Steam Punk Christmas celebrates with handmade local art. Repuporsing election signage yields a creative and festive decoration.
Zero Waste Action Team
The newest Squamish CAN project, Zero Waste Action Team (ZWAG) aims to find zero waste solutions to clear our landfills. ZWAG unites experts and passionate community members to tackle waste.
